Our Relationship with Duke Medicine
As part of the world-renowned Duke Medicine, which consistently ranks among the top 10 health care organizations in the country, Duke Integrative Medicine is pioneering the development of new models of care, research and medical education.
As a world leader in integrative medicine, Duke Medicine is actively working to shift the focus of medical care to a health-oriented practice rather than a disease-based model of care. Other academic medical centers are joining in this initiative as well.
Duke Integrative Medicine-Leading the Way
Duke Integrative Medicine is a founding member of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine, a group of more than 36 highly esteemed academic medical centers that includes Duke University, Harvard Medical School, Stanford University, University of California San Francisco, University of Massachusetts and the University of Arizona.
The Consortium works to transform medicine and health care practices through rigorous scientific studies, new models of clinical care, and innovative educational programs that integrate biomedicine, the intrinsic nature of healing and the rich diversity of therapeutic systems to address the complex needs of human beings.
We also participate in a pioneering group of respected institutions that compose the Bravewell Collaborative's Clinical Network. The network is dedicated to the advancement of integrative medicine, and its purpose is to create systemic change and translate emerging knowledge into broad application.
At Duke Integrative Medicine, we are using all of these components-research, education and clinical care-to speed the transformation of health care toward prospective, strategic health planning and integrated, coordinated care management. Through this work, we hope to usher in an era of "new medicine" that embraces the whole person and creates new dimensions in health and healing.
